The People Operations Specialist supports the organization’s growth by managing core HR operations including onboarding, payroll coordination, employee records, and compliance while improving internal processes and ensuring a positive employee experience across distributed teams.

Job Description

 

ALX Africa is seeking a People Operations Specialist to support the organization’s people systems, operational processes, and employee experience initiatives. This role works closely with the People Operations Lead to strengthen internal processes, ensure accurate employee data management, and support HR operations across the employee lifecycle. The position requires strong operational thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive employee matters with professionalism while helping scale the organization’s people infrastructure.


Responsibilities:
- Manage people operations processes including onboarding, role changes, contract management, and offboarding
- Coordinate payroll operations across multiple entities with finance teams and external payroll providers
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements
- Prepare employment contracts, HR documentation, and related administrative materials
- Serve as a point of contact for employee queries related to policies, benefits, and HR procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation, and operational efficiency


Requirements:
- 4 to 6 years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or HR Generalist roles
- Experience managing HR systems and maintaining employee records
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple operational processes simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for supporting employees and managers
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential employee information
